Andover is a suburban town in Essex County, Massachusetts. It is part of Greater Boston and is a northern suburb of the city of Boston, which is located 20 miles to the south. Lawrence borders it to the north, North Andover to the northeast, North Reading and Wilmington to the south, and Tewksbury to the southwest. Andover also borders Methuen to the northeast; however, the boundary separation is formed by the Merrimack River.
