Salem is crossed by four New Hampshire state routes and one Interstate Highway.

 

NH 28 follows Broadway through the core business center of Salem before becoming Rockingham Road towards the north. It runs from Salem to Windham in the north and Methuen in the south.

 

NH 38 begins in Salem at NH 28 (Broadway), just east of the Mall at Rockingham Park, and travels southwest into the town of Pelham. It largely follows Lowell Road and Rockingham Park Boulevard.

 

NH 97 begins at NH 28 (Broadway) in Salem and travels east along Main Street to connect Salem with Haverhill, Massachusetts.

 

NH 111 runs through the town's far north, connecting it to Windham in the west and Hampstead in the east.

 

Interstate 93 runs from southeast to northwest through town. In Salem, there are two interchanges: Exit 1, which leads to Rockingham Park Boulevard, and Exit 2, which leads to Pelham Road.

 

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is located on the border between Londonderry and Manchester. The Haverhill Line of the MBTA Commuter Train is the closest rail service, which can be reached at Lawrence station in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Haverhill station in Haverhill, Massachusetts, is the nearest Amtrak station.
