About Plaistow

Plaistow is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire. It is bordered by Kingston NH (north), Newton NH (northeast), Merrimac MA (east at one point), Haverhill MA (south), Atkinson NH (west), and Hampstead NH (northwest).

Each year, the town celebrates "Old Home Day" with a parade along Main Street through Plaistow village, fireworks at the local high school, and a carnival-style atmosphere on the Town Hall lawn to commemorate the town's anniversary.

Sweet Hill Farm's Market is open all year and offers an ever-changing selection of seasonally fresh fruits, veggies, and corn grown right on their farm. They also offer a large range of New England-made items. Every season brings new activities and festivals, so see what's new on the farm!

The forest is an excellent representation of New Hampshire hiking; a woodland trek with 80-90 percent shade, ponds, modest hills, a boardwalk portion, and a covered trail bridge. The routes themselves are enjoyable since they are not too rough. Nonetheless, trail markers are irregular, making navigating difficult.

Plaistow Public Schools

Timberlane Regional High School (grades 9-12) and Timberlane Regional Middle School (grades 6-8) are located in Plaistow and serve as the middle and high schools for Plaistow, Atkinson, Danville, and Sandown. Transportation

Route 121A (Main Street) is a local route that passes through the center of Plaistow from north to south. It crosses NH 125 north of town and ends at the Massachusetts border, where the route continues south for a few yards until stopping at Massachusetts Route 125. NH 121A connects East Hampstead and Sandown to Chester. New Hampshire Route 108 runs north to south along Plaistow's eastern edge, approximately 0.1 miles (0.16 km) west of the Massachusetts border. Route 108 connects Newton and Exeter to the north and Haverhill to the south. NH 121 runs for around 1000 feet through the town's extreme southwestern corner.

 

Pan Am Railways (originally the Boston and Maine Railroad) operates the primary railroad route from Boston to Portland, Maine, which is used by Amtrak and freight trains and runs through Plaistow. Amtrak Downeaster passenger stations are located in Haverhill to the south and Exeter to the north. MVRTA bus 13 runs from the center of Haverhill to just south of the state border, where it stops on Route 125.
