Carlisle is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, northwest of Boston. Carlisle is roughly 8 miles (13 kilometers) south-southwest of Lowell and 19 miles (31 kilometers) northwest of Boston. Concord, Acton, Westford, Chelmsford, Billerica, and Bedford are its neighbors. Carlisle residents enjoy the rustic beauty of a New England agricultural community, with meandering roads flowing past stone walls, fields farmed for generations, and pristine woodlands.
Things To Do in Carlisle
The park has 19.5 miles (31.4 km) of trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, dog walking, and equestrian usage. Meadow Pond provides canoeing and fishing opportunities. Tours of the dairy farm are provided from May to October. From April to October, an ice cream stand is available.
The Malcolm Preserve is an 11-acre nature reserve in Carlisle. A half-mile route connects the preserve to trails in Estabrook Woods and the Punkatasset Reserve in Concord.
The trails range in complexity and explore the 1,000-acre Great Brook Farm State Park's stunning scenery of farms, forests, streams, and ponds.
