About Groveland

Groveland lies in Essex County's northwestern corner, bordered by Haverhill to the west and northwest, West Newbury to the northeast, a small portion of Newbury to the east, Georgetown to the southeast, and Boxford to the southwest. Groveland is located 9 miles (14 km) northeast of Lawrence and 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Newburyport. It is a small community that preserves all of the features of a pleasant rural village in the setting of a convenient suburb.

Groveland, located between Interstate 95 and Interstate 495, has no interstates crossing through it. Routes 97 and 113 both approach town through the Bates Bridge, a truss bridge built in 1913 that connects Haverhill to town. From the end of the bridge, Route 97 heads south through the town to Georgetown, while Route 113 bears eastward along the river towards West Newbury.

The Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority runs through the town; there is no other public transportation in town. The MBTA Commuter Rail's Haverhill/Reading Line terminates in Haverhill, offering train service into Boston's North Station. Lawrence Municipal Airport in North Andover is the closest small-plane airport, while Logan International Airport is the closest national air service. There is a Peter Pan bus that runs to North Station and stops at The Tea Garden, a Chinese restaurant and bar in town.
