Route 129 runs through Wakefield as its Main Street. I-95/Route 128 skirt the northwestern border of Wakefield as one road known as the "Yankee Division Highway".

Several MBTA buses on Routes 136 and 137 serve the neighboring towns, including the adjacent Oak Grove stop and Malden Center, both Orange Line rapid transit stops. The 428 bus, which goes express from Oaklandvale in adjacent Saugus to Haymarket in downtown Boston, makes a stop on Farm Street in front of Wakefield High School.

 

Rt. 128/I-95 goes through Wakefield, with exits on Albion Street, North Avenue, Water Street, Vernon Street, New Salem Street, and Salem Street. State Route 129 also runs through Wakefield. US Route 1 travels through adjacent Saugus and Lynnfield, while I-93 runs via Stoneham.
