West Newbury is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts. The town is about 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Lawrence and 34 miles (55 km) north of Boston. It is bordered by Merrimac and Amesbury to the north, Newburyport to the east, Newbury to the southeast, Groveland to the southwest, and Haverhill to the west. West Newbury is mostly known as a beautiful residential community and for its Christmas tree farms.

The town is situated between the termini of two MBTA Commuter Rail lines, the Haverhill Line to the west and the Newburyport/Rockport Line to the east.

Plum Island Airport (2B2) in adjacent Newburyport has a short runway; the nearest national air service is at Logan International Airport in Boston.
