About Marblehead

Marblehead is a coastal New England town in Essex County, Massachusetts. It is located on the North Shore of Massachusetts, near Massachusetts Bay and Salem Harbor. The town consists of a rocky peninsula that stretches into the bay, with an extra neck to the east connected by a long sandbar, now a causeway.

Things To Do in Marblehead

The 3.74-acre park features pavilions, seats, picnic tables, bathrooms, swimming, and parking while overlooking the mouth of the harbor and the shorelines of Beverly and Manchester-By-The-Sea.

Aside from the historical history associated with this public park, there are also wonderful ocean views all around. In the center of the park, there is a huge field. Fort Sewall is definitely worth a visit to see the panoramic ocean views and underground bunkers.

This small wildlife reserve in the midst of Marblehead Neck is great for anybody searching for a small piece of nature to meander around and do some bird watching.

Marblehead Public Schools

The Marblehead Public Schools District is highly rated in the community. The district contains seven schools: four elementary schools, a middle school, and Marblehead High School for grades 4 through 6. Transportation

The eastern termini of Massachusetts Routes 114 and 129, which meet at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Ocean Avenue, are located in Marblehead. Route 114 travels west into Salem, while Route 129 travels south along Atlantic Avenue via Swampscott to Lynn. 

 

There are no freeways within the town, with the nearest access being to Massachusetts Route 128 in Peabody and Beverly.

 

The 441 and 442 MBTA bus lines begin in town on a regular basis, providing service to Boston and weekend service to Wonderland in Revere.

 

The MBTA Commuter Rail's Newburyport/Rockport Line runs through Swampscott and Salem, connecting the North Shore to Boston's North Station.

 

The nearest air service is at Beverly Municipal Airport, with national and international service at Boston's Logan International Airport. Salem also has a seasonal ferry service to Boston.
