About Dracut

Dracut is located in northeastern Middlesex County about 28 miles north of Boston. Dracut is known for its rural landscapes and handsome historic houses. Dracut is bordered by Tyngsboro to the west and the city of Lowell to the south and west in Middlesex County, Methuen to the east in Essex County, and Pelham, New Hampshire, to the north in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Tewksbury and Andover border the town to the south over the Merrimack River.

Things To Do in Dracut

Four Oaks Country Club is an 18-hole Championship Golf Course located in the heart of the Merrimack Valley. Four Oaks boasts an event facility overlooking the golf course with spectacular views of the Merrimack Valley, as well as an Italian restaurant, Grazie, serving authentic Italian dishes prepared by a master chef.

In the summer, families can afford to linger out at Dracut's premier park. Here, there is a sizable splash pad that may be considered a little water park, along with a traditional playground and covered picnic tables.

The Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest is so enormous that it sprawls across three cities, especially Lowell, Dracut, and nearby Tyngsboro. With six miles of trails and more than 1,000 acres of forest, the area is known for its excellent hiking options. If you choose not to walk on foot then you may also bike through the forest and horseback riding is also offered here. Skiing and snowmobiling are common winter activities in the park.

Transportation

Dracut is close to many major area highways. Among the busiest are US Route 3, Interstate 495, and Interstate 93. Approximately 15 to 20 miles (24 to 32 km) to the south of Dracut lies Interstate 95, and near Boston, 30 to 35 miles (48 to 56 km) to the south is the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90). The town is immediately crossed by Routes 38, 110, and 113 of Massachusetts.

 

The LRTA 10 bus connects to the Lowell train station on the MBTA Commuter Rail Lowell Line.
